10 Best places to explore through science this Easter

If you want to do something different this Easter and explore through science in the South East, here are some of our favourite places:

1. Science Museum, South Kensington

We totally recommend the WonderLab on the top floor. Probably the best exhibition we've visited. It is full of fun hands on experiments, cool demonstrations - simply so much fun for kids... and grown ups of course! Not sure who will want to stay the longest ;). You can even see live demos including some very loud explosions (get ready to cover your ears!) Also good to visit is 'The Garden' downstairs with water play and sensory activities as well as a bubble show. We love bubbles!

A perfect place for a dry or wet day (we seem to have a few wet days at the moment!) with the adventure playground, pond zone or indoor discovery centre. Take some binoculars with you and try to spot as many different species as possible. Record them or even take a picture and if you don't know them all, look them up in the bird books provided in the hides! There is also Dusty's Duck Hunt running during the Easter holidays!

3. Hounslow Urban Farm, Hounslow

A great place to learn about animals. There are plenty of farm animals to feed including sheep, goats, pigs and horses. There are also some incredible shows including owl displays and animal encounters where you can handle snakes and rabbits.

4. Natural History Museum, South Kensington

A classic place to explore with the whole family. This Easter holiday there is also a festival of the dinosaur - don't forget to check it out!

The butterflies exhibition outside the museum is back - another wonderful sensory experience, full of colours and wow faces guaranteed. One of our favourites.

The Investigate area is also worth a look as your kids can touch the exhibits here.

There is something for everyone. Ride the steam train, watch real chicks hatch, family trail and Easter craft... you won't get bored. A great place to learn how things work and answer many of their "why" questions :). Your child will get a shock when they clamber through a 'sewer' to discover a rat hiding!

6. Richmond Park, Richmond

It is no secret that Richmond Park is one of the most amazing places to discover. At the heart of Richmond, this National Nature Reserve offers a great ground for your little scientists. Why not making a scavenger hunt in the park - you could pick a few Wildlife animals and insects to find, flowers and why not fungi as well. Then go for a wander and enjoy the outdoors.

Another Nature Reserve in our neighborhood. This green oasis is the home of woodland, grassland and a pond. You could maybe have a chat with your children about what lives in a pond and talk to them about the life cycle of a frog.

9. London Zoo, Regents Park

There's so much to discover at London zoo, as well as finding out all about the animals there is a nature trail and interactive shows such as spiders live. Over Easter there is a special Superpowers Trail around the zoo.

10. SeaLife Aquarium, Southbank

A brilliant place to explore and discover so many sealife creatures - from penguins, to the water tunnel, to the shark reef, to the octopus, ray and so much more. A true sensory experience.
